Ruby Mendenhall is an Associate Professor of Sociology, African American Studies, Urban and Regional Planning, Gender and Women’s Studies and Social Work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is the Assistant Dean at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and holds many affiliations with policy and research institutes addressing the mental and physical health of Black women. Dr. Mendenhall leads the Illinois Nobel Project which trains community health workers to engage and empower Black women and improve health outcomes.
