Coming Together for a More Inclusive Community: Understanding Power & Privilege

Equity, equality, racism, sexism, any -ism. These are challenging, and at times divisive topics that cannot be ignored. Housed in a conversation about how to prevent violence, join Eileen Heineman, Manager of the Equity Institute of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore of Illinois, as she leads us in an interactive conversation to consider topics of race, gender, ableism, heterosexism, and ageism. What is privilege? Who has it and how does it work for them? We will consider how power and privilege are connected, and how the misuse of power and privilege become oppression.

Come together in the final session of No More Violence Week 2021 to learn more about how we can use our power and privilege for the better – for ourselves, our families and our community.
