This year’s Stand Against Racism — From Declarations to Change: Addressing Racism as a Public Health Crisis — highlights the important work that YWCA local associations get up and do every day to dismantle systemic racism and break down racial barriers in more than 1,200 communities nationwide. It is also an invitation for elected officials, partner organizations, allied groups, and others across the country to join us in the fight for justice to address the effects of policies, practices, enforcement, and education that disproportionately impact Black communities. Systemic racism leads to widespread disparities for people of color. Black women are up to three times more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications than white women. Black, indigenous, and other people of color are more than twice as likely to be killed by police as white people. And the average life expectancy of African Americans is four years lower than the rest of the U.S. population.

YWCA of Palm Beach County continues to educate, advocate, and promote racial justice with our Stand Against Racism 2021 campaign.
