Y-Dub Discussions: Until Justice Just Is – Becoming an Ally for Change
YWCA Dayton
Event Date/Time:
- Thursday, April 22, 2021
6:00pm — 7:00pm
What is an ally and why does it matter? Join us for our next Y-Dub Discussions, specifically designed for and by the Preble County community, as we discover how anti-racist allyship can help create stronger communities for all.
As we work to ensure that our communities become places in which all people have a chance to thrive, it’s important to understand the impact systems of power have on our lives. This life-long work involves a commitment to building authentic relationships across difference, unlearning habits that keep us from creating a more just society, and acknowledging where we stand in relation to privilege – in our workplaces, our families and our social circles. Being an ally is about reducing our complicity in oppressive systems through practices like humility, collaboration and accountability to others.
This conversation will feature Preble County leaders, providing a unique opportunity to hear about firsthand experiences with allyship in rural communities, and will leave you with tools for how you, too, can be an ally for change. Free to attend. Register now at: http://bit.ly/ydub42221.
YWCA Dayton is on a mission to eliminate racism and empower women.
